Diving
vacations are becoming increasingly popular among American travelers.
According to dive experts, here are a few of the best shallow dives in the
Caribbean ...a world-class mecca for this exciting sport.
Caymans - Bloody Bay Wall, Little Cayman: Diving starts at only 15 to 30 feet. Sunlight filters through the water, surrounding the diver with an incredible burst of color. Here you can swim with grouper and admire the coral-laden escarpment that borders an abyssal drop-off.
Bahamas - Victory Reef, South Bimini: Between encounters with giant loggerhead turtles and coral-laced canyons, this is a remarkable dive site. You'll have an opportunity to swim with Caribbean reef sharks and even big game fish that come into the area with the nearby Gulf Stream.
British Virgin Islands - 'RMS Rhone': This wreck is one of the most famous dive spots in the BVI. Sunk during the 1867 hurricane, the 310-foot steamer sits just off the coast of Salt Island and offers a choice of dive depths that range from 30 feet to 80 feet. The ship is covered with colorful coral formations.
